David Barter Driving School, Chester, UK. Drive your Potential

I'm a member of the Approved Driving Instructors National Joint Council (ADINJC) and I align with their terms and conditions along with the ADI code of practice.

Please read and acknowledge your agreement with my terms and conditions. Acknowledgement by a text message, or email from you is required before lessons commence.

Driving Lessons are for 2 hours. However, the duration may vary from time to time. I will give at least 7 days notice of any change.

Messages, by phone or otherwise are not read, or responded to outside of normal business hours.

All lessons must be paid for at least 48 hours in advance.

When lessons are not paid for in advance, then a cancellation occurs without prior advanced payment, or due notice you will be charged the full amount.

Driving lesson collection, or drop-off locations outside of a 10 mile radius of CH3 5XD will incur a surcharge of GBP 25p per mile, per lesson.

Driving Tests or tuition outside of my published opening hours is not normally provided. If such a situation occurs, then one hour extra fee is charged. Please see my opening hours. I do not provide a customer service for the driving test at weekends

Cancellation of learner driver lessons with less than 48 hours notice, not including weekends or bank holidays, will incur the normal driver lesson charge per hour. There are no exceptions to this. Any prior discount agreement will be withdrawn and the full current normal price for lessons will be charged. To avoid this no credit is afforded. As a business, debt recovery procedures may be pursued.

In such circumstances your place will be offered to another learner driver.

With regard to any agreement for discount of a course of prepaid lessons (when applicable), should you terminate the agreement before completing the full course of pre-agreed hours, you will incur the full fees for the amount to date, without the discount.

Refresher driver training for qualified drivers is only provided in my driving school car, (tuition vehicle).

I may withdraw from providing driving lessons with you and you may cease driving lessons at any time.

You will be afforded politeness and respect. I expect the same from you. Lessons are formal and follow DVSA guidelines, with learning being paramount. The standards of behaviour in an office, workplace and education establishment environment are expected and adhered to.

Bullying, aggressive or disrespectful behaviour towards me, or other road users isn’t acceptable and will not be tolerated. In light of such behaviour training will stop, the lesson will not be refunded and any further arrangements or agreements may be terminated.

The Driving Test.

During your driving test the standard must be consistently safe and competent throughout.

Please read the following link provided by the DVSA closely. It directly affects your practical driving test opportunities:

https://readytopass.campaign.gov.uk/?utm_source=govuk&utm_medium=inline-link&utm_campaign=top-10-failures&utm_content=cta

A candidate should only be presented for test when the ADI is satisfied they can drive independently, in a range of weather, light and road conditions, safely.

It is very important that you are fully prepared to take your test.

  • I decline acceptance of new customers for the Practical Driving Test booked at short notice who have been receiving driving lessons from another driving instructor.
  • I will not accept a candidate who is simultaneously receiving driving lessons from another driving instructor.*
  • Should you miss more than two weeks within a period of six weeks, or two weeks in a row, your space may be re-allocated to another learner driver or trainee.
  • If you wish to take your practical driving test through my driving school, I request that you have a minimum of ten hours regular driving tuition with me, within five weeks of your test.
  • I reserve the right to decide when you possess the level of road sense, practical knowledge and driving skills necessary to safely be a candidate in the practical driving test. I accept no responsibility for any outcome if you attempt the driving test in my tuition vehicle, or privately in another vehicle.
  • I ask that you participate in a two hour summative assessment for your driving test at least a fortnight beforehand during which you’ll be evaluated.
  • In the light of any summative or formative evaluation, or in the course of informal coaching, I may decline the use of my tuition vehicle for your driving test.
  • At any point in time during a driving lesson, including a pre-test drive en route to the test centre for your driving test, if a serious driver error on your part occurs, of such danger and as a consequence of your driving; I may immediately withdraw the use of my tuition vehicle for your driving test.
  • You, as the learner driver, in lessons, or during the driving test must take all reasonable, practical and legal responsibility for your driving and ensure the safety of yourself, the DVSA driving examiner and any observer, including all other road users. Responsibility for this risk may be shared with me, as I have dual control pedals in the tuition car.
  • No person, property, or animal should be placed at risk of harm, damage or danger as a result of incompetent or dangerous driving, in a driving lesson or during the driving test.
  • You may lose your DVSA test fee if I tell you that you are not ready for your test and I am under no obligation to take you to your test. In such circumstances I will advise you of the next steps necessary to become test ready.
  • A record of your progress, including the number of lessons provided is maintained. You’ll be kept aware of this and future training requirements to help you achieve your learner driver goals.
  • Test bookings will not be accepted without proof of the booking, e.g. a screen shot or a copy of the booking.
  • Test bookings outside the published opening hours of David Barter Driving School will incur an extra normal hour’s lesson fee.
  • Test bookings are a minimum of a 2.5-hour lesson.

I will not book your Theory Test, or Practical Driving Test.
